Masao (Zhengxiong) Rong is a designer/artist who values practical making process as a way of maintaining human subjectivity in the capitalist world which denies everybody as a complete human. He is currently studying MA Design Products in Royal College of Art, London. Prior to that, he graduated BA Engineering Mechanics from Beihang University, China.

Masao's practice is based on ideological critique theories of industrial society, focusing on innovative ways of production and public engagement to bring about social changes. For his projects, he is always inspired by crafting traditions and folk activities because he thinks spontaneous activities cultivated in specific social contexts are pictures of how real people live their lives.

In addition to his own practice, he also works with Studio Futurefarmers in public art projects aiming at engaging communities with conversations about emerging social topics that are closely related to their lives.
